ABOUT LINDA

Linda Nardelli grew up in Montreal, as well as spent a number of her childhood years in Victoria BC. She moved to the interior of British Columbia after a lengthy road trip across Canada and the USA, where she fell in love with the rolling hills of the Okanagan valley. It is there that she was highly encouraged by a mentoring artist to study fine art at the Okanagan university. Following her studies, Linda moved to the city of Vancouver where she apprenticed in trompe l’oeil murals and the art of faux finishing. Linda now resides on the Sunshine Coast of BC, surrounded by her main source of inspiration – nature.

Linda has a deep love of texture and the interplay of shapes, colour and light found in nature. Her appreciation of nature extends to human nature, to our thoughts and emotions. For her, subjective impressions are as important as the visual composition.

The rich world of subjective experience is an intuitive gift that Linda gives to the process of making art and the mystery it unveils. Creating art is the way in which she makes sense of the world and her part in it. Each work of art is shaped out of the mystery of the Soul and life’s influences, and carries the healing vibration of a Mandela, becoming an alter for deep healing and connectivity.

ABOUT THE WORK

Linda’s love of nature is found in her organic flow of texture and colour, which in her art is layered like mineral deposits with cement/plaster texture and acrylic washes, and then brought to life with rich oil glazes and encaustic medium.

Her interest in cave art, etched engraving and line drawing bring a distinct quality to Linda’s art, adding an expansive layer of symbols formed by scratched markings in overlays and interlocking patterns. These symbols represent the dialogue between external stimulus and internal reflections, bringing to the foreground the deeper subconscious mind, intuition and play.

With each painting, Linda seeks to balance the inner and outer world found in life and the act of making art.

EDUCATION

Linda graduated with a diploma of Fine Art at the Okanagan College/University in 1991.

She apprenticed in the art of Trompe-l’œil murals and faux finishes in 1993, which later contributed to the distinct quality of the glazing technique in her abstract work.
